The Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos joyfully commemorates a significant milestone in the life of their Chief Shepherd, Most Rev. Dr. Alfred Adewale Martins, as he celebrates his 40th Priestly Anniversary alongside his esteemed classmates: Very Rev. Monsignor Edmond Akpala, Very Rev. Monsignor Jerome Oduntan, Very Rev. Fr. Alphonsus Ania, and Very Rev. Fr. Michael Akintolu, who all received their ordination on September 18th, 1983.
This occasion also marks the 25th Episcopal Ordination Anniversary of Most Rev. Alfred Adewale Martins. Following the Mass, a reception will be held at Victoria Island’s Musa Yar’Adua Hall.
This Mass serves as a dual celebration for Archbishop Martins, not only commemorating 25 years of his Episcopacy but also his 40th Priestly Ordination Anniversary, an event shared with his fellow seminary classmates. These dedicated individuals were ordained together on that memorable day in 1983 at the Holy Cross Cathedral, Lagos, earning them the affectionate title of “The Class of 83,” stemming from their time at Saints Peter and Paul Major Seminary in Bodija, Ibadan.
