Dr. Tunji John Asaolu is currently the Nigerian Representative at the 3rd Permanent General Assembly of the African Union Economic, Social and Cultural Council (AU-ECOSOCC).
He was first elected in 2014 to 2018 and then re-elected for a second term in 2018 till 2022. During his first term in office, he was elected as the Chairperson, Social Affairs & Health (cluster committee), the position he occupied during the entire 2nd permanent General Assembly from 2014 – 2016 and 2016 to 2018.
Dr. Tunji was also appointed in May 2018 as a member of African Union Labour Migration Advisory Committee (for 5 years tenure). Prior to these, he was the President/Executive Director of African Youths International Development Foundation (AFYIDEF) and Special Assistant on Special Duties, Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Youth & Student Matters from 2013 to 2015.
Dr. Tunji is from Ekiti State in South West Geo-Political Zone of Nigeria. He obtainedj OND in Business Administration & Management from the Ondo State Polytechnic, Owo in 2000; he also attended University of Abuja where he possessed B.Sc. Degree in Accounting Management in 2007. He also obtained Masters Decree in Life Management & Human Resources Development from Life Leadership University, California in 2009. Doctorate Degree in Life Management, Human & Community Development in 2013 from Life Leadership University, Califonia, USA. He also obtained Honour Code Certificate in SOCIAL JUSTICE from Harvard University in 2014. Dr. Tunji Asaolu is a fellow International Institute of Management Consultant and also a full member of Institute of Public Diplomacy and Management; member of West Africa Civil Society Institute; and Chairman, Board of Director – AU Diplomatic Schools; he is also a Vice Chairman/CEO of African School of Diplomacy and International Relations.
Dr Tunji has received many Awards among them are: “Youth Ambassador for Peace” by Universal Peace Federation and Youth Federation for World Peace. Grand Achiever in Public Service by AfricanAGE Magazine. African Youth Ambassador by AFYIDEF. Above all, he is a great lover and minister of God in the Redeem Christian Church of God.
