On 28/11/2020 at about 01:00hrs, bandits numbering fifteen (15), on motorbikes, shooting sporadically with AK 47 rifles, attacked Fararu Hamlet, Birchi Ward, Kurfi LGA of Katsina state and rustled one hundred and twenty cows. On receipt of the report, DPO Kurfi Division led ‘Operation Puff Adder’ and laid seige in a possible escape route of the bandits at Tashan Bara’u village – cattle route.
Fortunately, the bandits followed through the route and the police team engaged into a gun duel. Consequently, they dislodged the bandits and recovered all the rustled cows. Search parties are currently combing the area with a view of arresting and/or recovery of dead bodies of the injured bandits. Investigation is ongoing.
